Description:
This lesson includes two microlearnings which combine to teach strategies to minimize bias and approach clients through a trauma-informed perspective.
You will look at the brain functions that cause bias, and the real and harmful consequences of even unintentional bias. You’ll also learn about common bias types. Apply strategies to break out of these mental habits and enjoy a more productive, engaging workplace and community. By bringing awareness to our unintentional assumptions, we can address and overcome the effects of implicit bias.
Then, take a look at how an organization can incorporate the principles of Trauma-Informed Care throughout the organization. This includes defining trauma and considering the impact of direct, indirect, and vicarious trauma. There are five basic tenets of trauma-informed care to incorporate into the workplace and client meetings you conduct. Practice incorporating these tactics in scenario-based choices.
