This course is designed to provide information about the roles and responsibilities for agencies involved in Douglas County child abuse and neglect cases so that they can effectively collaborate on these cases. In this training, participants will hear from professionals from multiple agencies including law enforcement, child protective services, Douglas County attorneys, and Project Harmony staff as the class works through a mock case.
Participants will:
- Identify the roles of the child advocacy center, law enforcement, child protective services, county attorneys, and other partners involved in these investigations
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of each agency
- Know the purpose of protocols designed to improve coordination, clarify duties, increase effectiveness of adjudications and prosecutions, and minimize negative impact on children
- Promote a multidisciplinary approach to ending child abuse and neglect
