Identifying Indicators, Dispelling Myths, and Collaborating in Child Abuse and Neglect Cases
This course describes the medical indicators of child physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect and dispels commonly believed myths and inferences. This training is delivered by members of the Project Harmony Medical Team. Please note that photos used in this presentation may be graphic but are used to increase awareness.
Target Audience:
This training is offered for professionals who work in the child welfare system or collaborate on child welfare investigations, including medical providers, nurses, child welfare professionals, law enforcement, attorneys, mental health professionals, and educators and school personnel.
Participants will:
- Gain an understanding of the role of medical professionals in child welfare
- Be able to describe the physical indicators of various forms of abuse and neglect
- Identify ways to effectively work with medical providers treating children in the child welfare system
- Understand the effects of violence on children
