About Ashley Farrens
Ashley Farrens is the Violence Intervention Program Supervisor for Encompass Omaha, Nebraska’s only hospital-based violence intervention program. A graduate of Creighton University School of Nursing, she has worked as an emergency department nurse at different hospitals across the Omaha Metro area. After completing her Masters in Nursing Leadership and Masters in Business at Nebraska Wesleyan University, she was a trauma outreach coordinator for Nebraska Medicine’s level one trauma program. Through her experience working in the ER and trauma department, she found her real passion in community-based violence prevention and intervention. She has educated over 2500 Nebraska Medicine and UNMC staff on trauma informed care practices, worked with politicians on legislative bills to support community violence prevention efforts, and advocates for equitable health care for underserved populations, especially those victimized with violent injury.
